Obituary of Claudia Sage
Reverend Claudia Marie Sage passed away on October 6, 2019 at the age of 63. She is remembered with love from her daughters, Jessica Smith and Michelle (Gerald) Coleman, and her sisters, Margie White, Kimberly Leetch, Roberta Harding, and Marybeth White. She was preceded in death by her beloved Wayne McKensie, parents Robert and Margaret White, and brother Daniel White. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio and spent her adulthood moving around the United States as part of a military family, but she felt most at home when she settled in Oregon in 1996. Claudia had a long, successful career as a Pediatric Dietitian and Diabetes Educator at various hospitals and in private practice. She presented and authored numerous articles on diabetes and genetics. Because she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a teenager, she dedicated her life to helping children who were “failure to thrive” and to improve children’s quality of life through diabetic and insulin education. Claudia was happiest when at the beach, listening to the sounds of the ocean or listening to Stevie Nicks on the radio. She was a lifelong learner with an emphasis on Native American community and epigenetics. For the past five years, she facilitated a Course in Miracles class and she achieved her spiritual goal to become a Reverend. She was an avid reader with a focus on spirituality, science fiction and fantasy, and re-read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy every year. She had an adventurist spirit, a generous heart, and great intellectual curiosity. A private ceremony was held in Oceanside, Oregon with arrangements through Crown Memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations to Children’s International, would be appreciated by the family.
