Obituary of Shirley Ann Bass

Shirley Bass was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on January 17, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born to Ernest and Clarissa Marcotte on March 1, 1938 in Brockton, MA. After graduating from high school, Shirley married and helped raise three children: Tom, Robert, and John. Later, after attending college, Shirley bravely and tirelessly chased her dream of becoming an attorney where she selflessly helped thousands of people throughout Oregon. In addition to her three boys, Shirley is survived by her sister, Dianne; daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Jenna; and three grandchildren she adored, Claire, Olivia, and Carter. As an elder law attorney, she frequently spoke to groups and organizations, taught classes, and enrolled in courses and workshops to help refine her practice. Shirley was generous with her time, money, advice, and, if you were lucky, you received a thoughtful card and coin from one of her travels. In addition, Shirley loved supporting charitable organizations. She was loyal to her membership in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), and believed in celebrating and supporting women to achieve their highest aspirations. She was passionate about keeping tabs on her grandchildren’s accomplishments and was a VERY proud Nana. Our family would like to acknowledge the Hospice Program of Oregon and their incredible end-of-life support and advocacy for Shirley. We know she would love contributions to support the important work they do. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating at the following link: https://oregonhospice.org/donate/
