Obituary of Frances Gundry
Frances “Fran” (Troxell) Gundry, born to Wayne and Ethel (Balderston) Troxell in Medford, Oregon, November 22, 1934, went to be with her Lord on August 15, 2020 at the age of 85. Frances was born in Medford, Oregon, attended Medford Public Schools and graduated from Medford Senior High in 1952, then attended Northwest Christian College the following year. In 1954 she married Richard D. Gundry. Four children were born of this union. In 1965 he was employed at St. Helens Hall in Portland as secretary for three years before her employment as the principal school secretary of Meadow Park and Whitford Intermediate Schools in the Beaverton School District for 26 years. She retired June, 1991 and worked part-time for Portland Community College in a substitute clerical capacity for the next ten years. She was a member and president of the Beaverton Educational Secretaries Association, the Oregon Association of Educational Office Professionals, and Oregon Association of Educational Secretaries Past Presidents, a member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals, which awarded her the Professional Standards Program certificate and the distinction of Certified Educational Office Employee. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Champoeg Chapter; a member and the first president of the Dual Jewels Mother of Twins Club, and the co-founder and first president of the NW Association of Mothers of Twins Clubs. She also continued the genealogy work her mother started and was instrumental in developing information that spanned several past generations on both sides of her parents’ ancestors, and was an organizer and charter member of the Balders(t)on(e) International Family Reunion Association which was founded in 1978 at a reunion held in Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clyde and Rev. Delbert, and sisters Dorothy Harbison and Arlene Goble. Survivors include her children and their spouses, twins, Dawn Vance of Bend, Dianne Nicholson of Sparks, Nevada, Karen Assad, of Portland, Brian and (Sally) Gundry of Soap Lake, Washington; grandchildren, Kerry Miller, Timothy, Mathew, and Kathryn Assad; 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and additional family members.
