Obituary of James Johnston

James B (Jim) Johnston Feb.24, 1926 - Aug 24, 2018 Jim passed away Friday, August 24th, 2018 at age 92 from complications of a stroke at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born Feb 24th, 1926 to Lloyd and Bernice (Simcox) Johnston in Portland, OR. At age 5, the family moved to Albany, Oregon where he attended elementary and Albany High School, graduating in 1944. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force and served from 1944-1946. After retiring from the service, he attended the University of Oregon. He married Wilma Cosler April 27th, 1952 in Albany. Jim worked in advertising/sales for the Albany Democrat Herald and Oregonian newspapers. Later he worked in contract sales for General Electric Company. Jim was a competitive golfer and tennis player, playing tennis well into his mid 80's. He enjoyed many hobbies: astronomy, photography, and painting. He was a 54 year member of St Johns Masonic Lodge Survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma, daughter Karen, Janell Johnston, Diane Jones (Rick) 4 Grandchildren, Jai Johnston, Claire, Annie, and Lilly Jones, and 1 great grandchild Pearl. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Don. Celebration of Life is Saturday, September 8, 2018 1:30 pm at the Stockpot restaurant, 8200 SW Scholls Ferry Rd, Beaverton, Oregon
