Obituary of Robert Moxley

Robert Maxwell Moxley (Bob) was born in Hagerstown, Maryland in December 1946 and passed away peacefully in Hillsboro, Oregon in September 2020. Bob was a craftsman, he and his wife Sue shared a deep love of the home they built in Newberg, Oregon in 1977 on a beautiful piece of acreage.They spent many happy years there raising their family and tending to their Christmas tree farm.Their home was located near Smurfit Newsprint, the local paper mill where Bob was employed for more than 33 years and retired as a Tour Foreman. Renovating old cars was one of Bob’s hobbies.His collection included a 1957 Chevy and a 1958 Corvette convertible.He spent a great deal of time teaching his kids to restore a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, which they drove during their high school years. The Big Island of Hawaii held a special place in Bob’s heart.He traveled there frequently with family and friends and enjoyed his role as tour guide, sharing his love of snorkeling, food and exploring all the island had to offer. As an avid outdoorsman, his passion for fishing transpired into annual trips to Alaska and Canada with his friends and family in search of halibut, salmon, and big belly laughs.He was a jokester and is remembered for his big smile and jolly personality. The thing Bob held most dear was his time spent with family.He enjoyed hosting large family reunions and holiday events with his wife Sue.In his later years, Bob spent a great deal of time attending his grandkids’ activities. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan (Schneider) and son Robert Moxley of Tigard, Oregon (wife Shannon).He is also survived by his daughter Jodi (Bual) (husband Marth) of Hillsboro, Oregon and three grandchildren; Elizabeth and Max Moxley and Ava Bual. A celebration of life for immediate family will be held on Sunday, September 13th from 4-6pm at Bottle and Bottega, 1406 SW Broadway, Portland.
