Obituary of Peter Kai Yu
Peter Kai Yu was born on March 28, 1930 in Canton, China to Chung To Yu and Lan-Ying Fung. He attended technical college in China. In 1961, he married Margaret Tang, and in 1973 they immigrated to the United States together with their young daughter, Marina. Peter and his family ultimately settled in Portland, Oregon, where they would reside for more than forty years. Peter worked as an Administrative Supervisor of Sales for Alcoa International in Hong Kong. He was then a financial analyst at Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust in New York. Most recently, he was a Medical Supply Technician at the V.A. Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Outside of work, he loved puttering around in his big yard and growing his Asian fruit trees. He also loved cooking authentic Hong Kong style Chinese food for his family and friends. Peter is survived by his daughter, Marina Yu, of Hillsboro, Oregon, his brother, Kwai Leung Yu, of Hong Kong, China, and many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces of New York, Canada, and abroad. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Yu, his father, Chung To Yu, and his mother, Lan-Ying Fung, his brothers, Kui Yu and Sheung Yu, of New York, and his sister, Amy Tom, of New York.
