Obituary of Richard Myrle Moore

King City, OR-Richard (Dick) M. Moore, 90 years old passed away at home with his wife and children by his side. Richard was born at his grandmother Nellie Moore’s home in Arcadia, Nebraska. His parents Marie (Nyberg) and Melvin Moore had 7 children; Richard was the third born. Richard was an avid Cornhuskers fan and never missed a game. Go Big Red!! Richard graduated from H.S. in Ansley, Nebraska in 1949. Richard proudly served in the US Army, Battery A 26th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean war from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1961 from the US Army Reserve. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and National Defense Service Medal. He then worked for the Portland Public School District where he retired after 35 years. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Melvin Moore, sister Imogene, two brothers James and Donny, and grandson John J. Percin Jr. Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years Shirley, his four children Richard (Jeanette) Moore of Phoenix, AZ, Catherine Curtis of Portland, OR, Mary (John) Percin of Wilsonville, OR and Beverly (Ryan) Shoda; his 7 grandchildren Michelle (Mark) Hartig, Robert Percin, Elizabeth (David) McIntosh, Jacob (Morriah) Shoda, George (Justice) Curtis, Matthew Percin and Alex Curtis; 4 greatgrandchildren Matthew and Madison Hartig, George Curtis and Lawson Curtis; and siblings, Mary Vose, Marge Kittsmiller and Marlin Arthur. Richard and Shirley were married April 18, 1953 in Colorado Springs, CO. Moved to Portland, OR in 1958 with their children and in 1993 moved to King City, OR on the golf course. Richard was laid to rest with full Military Honors in a private service at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR on October 15, 2020.
